Some songs needa stay unknown
The first time i heard “Stereo Love” was this summer when I went to Lebanon. My cousins had me listen to this song they said I’d really like and played it for me. They were right. I listen to it every single day. I even have my iPod on loop sometimes when I listen to it so it would play it over and over again. It was something that meant a lot to me cuz it reminded me of lebanon. I also liked being able to show it to others and be like, yeah, this song”s pretty big in Europe and Lebanon and stuff. Then I heard it play on 99.7 and 94.9. Even worse, I heard its remix played on those stations and I just got so pissed off. First of all, because they butchered it by changing up the tune and adding a heavier beat. The best part of the song was that it didn’t have a loud beat. It totally covers up the accordion, which is what makes it original. Second, now it’s gonna become mainstream. Now people are gonna start singing it obnoxiously at clubs and in the car and on the street. Now radio stations are gonna play it all the time until people get sick of it. Then, in a year or so, when I’m still listening to the song and playing it on my computer or iPod or whatnot, people are gonna say, “dude, that song’s so old, change it,” like when i play Evanescence’s “Bring me to Life” or “Apologize.” Well, screw that. And screw mainstream. It screws things up.
